What is a Thicket?

  • A thick growth of shrubs; a dense or tangled ground cover of small trees or bushes.
  • A stand of light whips in forestry, more generally a low, thick and impenetrable wood or shrubbery.
  • An area filled with close-growing plants including shrubs, small trees, climbers, grasses, ferns, reeds, sedges etc.
  • A thicket is usually difficult or impossible to walk through, and so provides great shelter for birds and a wide range of other wildlife.
